NERTS is King County’s project to replace/rebuild the Houghton transfer station. This EIS (Environmental Impact Statement) compares Woodinville versus the current Houghton sites as potential locations.
Many groups and individuals are united by their desire to keep NERTS out of Woodinville. This page collects materials in PDF form for your review.
In addition to a place for the public to drop off trash and recycling these facilities are the destination for all residential garbage trucks every weekday. Needless to say the location will have a major impact on Woodinville’s people, traffic, businesses, as well as our environment.
The draft Environmental Impact Study (EIS) is open for public comment until April 9th.
King County Solid Waste must address all comments before the EIS is officially complete.
As key item of the agenda for the City Council meeting on March 19th 2024 was a response letter to the NERTS draft EIS. Council debated the contents for staff to perform a rewrite to be reviewed at the April 2nd council meeting --> the comment period ends April 9th.
During the March 19th meeting Council discussed the draft letter and ways to improve it. (video)
