A developer using LLCs with the name "MRM" contacted Mike Millman apparently to request changes in Woodinville.
Shortly after Millman and MRM met: MRM overspends by $1M above assessed value for a property in the "General Business" (GB) zone.
THEN the city started the process to change GB zoning to allow apartments.
This change would make development of MRM's land 12x more valuable.
In spring 2024, as the Planning Commission was discussing preliminary steps for a rezone MRM made their ask even bigger. Rather than the city's usual 56ft height limits they made it clear "85-90 feet" with reduced parking requirements was a must for their project.
This pushed the limit of "mid-rise" development and staff admitted they would be entering the range of "high-rise" complexes. All in a spot with the worst traffic in the city as discussed in the August 2023 consultant report.
Yet the city staff refused to allow Planning Commission to even consider a Comprehensive Plan update without this area being rezoned. Multiple commissioners asked about focusing development in the existing zones, or just in the empty land to the north. They were told council (via Millman's group) wanted a rezone of the McLendon's area.
